OvaTech is a reproductive technology/management company that was started in 2007 by Jeremy Block, Ph.D in order to provide embryo transfer and other reproductive services to cattle producers in the southeastern United States.
OvaTech offers a wide-array of reproductive services ranging from superovulation and in-vitro fertilization to estrous synchronization and ultrasound services. OvaTech's headquarters are located in Gainesville, FL where there is laboratory space for conducting embryo searching, embryo freezing and in-vitro fertilization procedures.
Just outside of Gainesville, OvaTech has a donor/recipient facility where all reproductive procedures are offered as in-clinic services. In addition to our in-clinic facility in Gainesville, OvaTech also offers on-farm reproductive services throughout the southeast. In order to more conveniently work with our clients OvaTech has also partnered with Hi-Performance Cattle Services in Pavo, GA and Downey Angus Ranch in Jay, FL to provide two satellite locations for both on-farm and in-clinic services.
Our primary goal is to work with our clients to improve the genetics and reproductive efficiency of their respective cattle operations. In order to achieve this goal, OvaTech adheres to three basic yet fundamental concepts:

Jeremy Block, Ph.D

Dr. Block is the CEO and chief embryologist at OvaTech. Dr. Block received his M.S and Ph.D degrees in reproductive physiology and embryology from the University of Florida. During his time at the University of Florida, Dr. Block conducted research on improving the post-transfer survival of bovine embryos. Dr. Block has a great deal of experience with superovulation, in vitro fertilization and general reproductive management. Dr. Block is directly involved in carrying out the services offered by OvaTech and also oversees the research program.
Luciano Bonilla, DVM

Dr. Bonilla is a native of Brazil where he earned his DVM degree from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. Following the completion of his veterinary degree, Dr. Bonilla worked as an embryo transfer technician providing embryo transfer, pregnancy diagnosis, and fetal sexing services to clients in Brazil. Dr. Bonilla joined OvaTech in 2007 and helps conduct services related to superovulation, in vitro fertilization, fetal sexing, estrous synchronization and artificial insemination.
Peter J. Hansen, Ph.D
Scientific Advisor
Dr. Hansen has served as a professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida since 1984. During this time, Dr. Hansen's research has focused on improving the reproductive efficiency of cattle in the southeast. In particular, Dr. Hansen has focused on the development of the early embryo. Dr. Hansen provides research and scientific advice to the OvaTech staff and also helps to coordinate collaborative research efforts between OvaTech and the University of Florida.
